A life with no back row

Angela Ruth Pryor Gosnell (1942–2025) never sat life out. A childhood polio survivor, pioneering engineer, queen of mischief, and matriarch to a giant, loving family, she lived boldly on her own terms. Online she was known as "Hot Wheels," and to her sisters she was proudly "Twisted Sister #1." Welcome to the memoir of a woman who rolled straight to the front.

Breaking barriers and setting standards

When polio altered her mobility in childhood, it didn't slow her down—it forged an unstoppable drive. Angela built a successful career as an engineer in an era when women, especially wheelchair users, faced formidable hurdles in technical fields. A meticulous planner and perfectionist, she mastered complex challenges with sharp wit and absolute precision.

Adventure, the beach, and the front row

Angela refused to let circumstances narrow her horizon. She played wheelchair tennis, snorkeled in crystal waters, hopped flights, and treasured more than forty years making memories at her New Smyrna Beach haven. At rock concerts, she owned the VIP section—Dad proudly wheeling her straight to the front with his favorite cold Budweiser stashed safely under her chair.

Matriarch, prankster, and Twisted Sister #1

As the eldest of eight, Angela was a second mother early on, later becoming a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was famous for legendary holiday feasts, financial savvy, epic Halloween pranks, and a laugh that filled every room. She showed everyone around her what it looks like to live with total devotion, humor, and fierce loyalty.

"Plan ahead. Take pride in what you do. Go when you get the chance—and always get the best seat in the house. Keep your wheels rolling."
